Tartu-Valmiera 330 kV overhead line is being built by AS Connecto Eesti

AS Connecto Eesti and Elering AS concluded the construction contract for the reconstruction of 330 kV overhead line from Tartu substation to the Estonian-Latvian border.

The overhead line to be reconstructed within the scope of 84 km passes through Tartu and Valga counties. The new line will be carried by approximately 250 towers which will remain in the same locations during reconstruction. The overhead line will be built as a double-circuit within 50 km by installing 110 kV conductors also on the new towers. The installation of conductors with a lower voltage class on the towers of Tartu-Valmiera line enables to dismantle the existing 110 kilovolt lines within a distance of 50 kilometres and release the underlying ground from the line-related restrictions. As the line to be reconstructed runs on the existing line route, there is no need for extensive logging. The 110 kV line connections to Tartu, Elva, Rõngu, Tsirguliina and Valga substations will also be reconstructed.

The contractual cost of the works is approximately 26 million euros. The first year will be spent on design and the construction activities on Tartu-Valmiera line will start in November 2021 lasting up to February 2023. Connecto’s project manager is Janek Sulev.
