During the construction works, the old overhead line will be fully dismantled and decommissioned (approx. 85 km). After demolition of the old line, new foundations will be built, new masts and wires will be supplied and installed. Over 300 masts will be demolished and replaced during the renovation. Parallel 110 kV overhead lines will be co-located on the same masts as the 330 kV line.
The completion of the L301 overhead line project will significantly increase the security of supply of both the Estonian and Latvian electricity systems and improve the capacity between Estonia and Latvia.
