Connecto to build Saarde wind farm in Pärnu County, Estonia

AS Connecto Eesti in cooperation with Nordecon Betoon OÜ and Verston OÜ signed a contract with Utilitas AS, a leading Estonian producer of renewable energy, for the construction of a wind farm in Saarde, Pärnumaa. With 9 wind turbines and a total capacity of 39 MW, the wind farm is scheduled to be completed in 2023. in the summer of 2009. The expected annual production of the Saarde wind farm will be 135 GWh, covering the annual electricity consumption needs of more than 40 000 households. The modern V150 wind turbines will be supplied by Vestas, a wind turbine manufacturer.

In the first phase of the project, the wind farm site will be prepared for the erection of the wind turbines: roads, wind turbine assembly platforms and foundations will be built, cable, communication and grounding networks will be installed and substations will be constructed. The wind turbines will be installed in the second phase of the project in 2023. in spring 2011.

The Connecto part covers the construction, testing and commissioning of the entire wind farm’s power system (20 kV and fibre optic cable network, 110/20kV substation). We have also signed a construction contract with Elering AS for the wind farm interconnection – a new 110 kV substation and a 330/110 kV overhead line upgrade. The total cost of the electrical works of the project is 6.5 million.
